Now more than ever, it’s the simple things that matter, whether it’s a bike ride, listening to your favourite record or a perfect fitting shirt. The things we do to take care of ourselves and each other, build connections and keep us going.
ADAPTURE has gathered a group of artists, athletes and friends from our community and asked them to choose an item that makes them feel good.
It’s all up to you.

COLIN / JENNA
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU?
We are Heia Studio which is a creative studio that works in the fields of architecture, interior design, experience design, and design strategy. Those are all different ways of saying that we help people develop all aspects of their built environment. Colin is an architect and Jenna is an industrial designer, we met a long time ago in art school and have been collaborating ever since.
WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ADAPTURE SHIRT?
Our first choice would usually be a black or white t-shirt in a subtle fit, nothing too tight or too boxy. We thought that this would be a good opportunity to challenge ourselves with some colour and see how we would all fit together.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OBJECT YOU CHOSE TO BRING?
Our dog Delilah is the final piece of our puzzle. She is constantly surprising us with her intelligence, resilience, and acrobatic skill. We adopted her about a year ago and she has become the centerpiece of our life. She came to us after starting out on the streets of Guanajuato, Mexico and, even though she had tough beginnings, she brings an energetic brightness to every day.

I'm Mr. Scriptkeeper and i'm a lettering/tattoo artist
WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ADAPTURE SHIRT?
I picked it for the comfort and great fit.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OBJECT YOU CHOSE TO BRING?
I brought my favorite tattoo machine. To me my tattoo machine is an extension of my creative expression.

Toi / Kozue
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU?
Toi: I’m Toi, I am a designer & visual artist.
Kozue: My name is Kozue, I was raised in Japan and I started to live in Canada from 2014 with Toi. I am a Japanese content writer, editor, and digital marketer. I am a DJ too.
WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ADAPTURE SHIRT?
Kozue: I always pick the black color when it’s hard to choose from a few colors options. Because black is easy to style with my outfits. And, I like to wear men's clothing but I have to choose the smallest size for my body size. That’s why I choose the slim fit. The men’s slim-fit is going to be my regular or relaxed fit. And I like the long sleeve because I can wear that more than the short sleeve shirt throughout the year.
Toi: I’ve been wearing Black Relaxed fit Long Sleeve and I liked this nice relaxed fit. So, I decided to pick SS T-shirts. Also, Olive is my favorite color next to the Black!
*Or I can just wear my Black Standard T-Shirts M (But it's pretty washed out or Samito’s Relaxed LS)
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OBJECT YOU CHOSE TO BRING?
We both love music. We met at the nightclub for the first time, and we have been to a bunch of music events, gigs, festivals together. The records we brought today are either bought at the music venue where we went to see the show together, or we listened to it together many times.
Toi: Some of the records are designed by myself. She sometimes plays these records at her DJ gigs. One of the records I designed and she wrote a Japanese copy. This is Flying Lotus’s record. We met for the first time at the Brainfeeder’s show where Flying Lotus had a gig in Tokyo.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU?
My name is Samuel Park and I am a visual artist primarily focused on painting and illustration.
WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ADAPTURE SHIRT?
I wanted a fit and silhouette that would go well with everything in my wardrobe. I also have an active outdoor lifestyle which goes perfectly with this shirt through its functionality and materials.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OBJECT YOU CHOSE TO BRING?
I brought my favorite fly-fishing reel. Wherever I go, I can get in touch with the natural surroundings and ecosystem through my passion for fishing. Fly Fishing allows me to use my creativity and love for nature to create flies and lures. Different places call for different fly designs and patterns. This results in a never-ending exploration and constant discovery of new ideas and habitats.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU?
My name is James R Baylis, I am a Stage Film and Voice Actor.
WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ADAPTURE SHIRT?
As an actor you must be comfortable in your own skin, comfortable in the present, and I love vibrant colors. Adapture gives me this necessary fit.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OBJECT YOU CHOSE TO BRING?
I came today on my bike, I ride every day, and I need to be comfortable while riding. I also like to be fashionable while in public, Adapture allows me to look & feel free.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU?
I’m Rico. Most people know me as Rico Uno and I DJ and produce events in Vancouver. Some of my projects include RUTS Wednesdays (formerly known as REUPTRIPPYSH**), RUTS World, and Big Chill. Aside from those, I'm also the resident DJ for Happy Ending Fridays at Fortune Sound Club and a bunch of other things that are still closed due to the pandemic. All the parties get pretty crazy and once things open back up, my personal forecast says people are gonna lose another year of their lives all over again lol.
WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ADAPTURE SHIRT?
I’m definitely layering a lot this fall and love a solid boxy t-shirt to throw over my knits and long-sleeves.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OBJECT YOU CHOSE TO BRING?
"Ball is Life" might sound trite but damn, I really felt it after the pandemic took away Monday night basketball runs with the Livestock crew. I was honestly lost without basketball - it brought together so many things we need as humans: community, successful social interactions, positive visualization, hurling an object at a person or thing, sprinting towards and away, dodging a person or thing, splashing on your friends, going hard in the paint, you know all that good stuff.
The ball itself is crazy too. It's an official NBA game ball, meaning that it’s all leather, not synthetic like 99% of the basketballs out there. It’s expensive, it’s not as easy to use as other basketballs and if you don’t know what it is, you might mistake it for a cheap rubber basketball. But if you take good care of it and get familiar with its features, it makes using all other basketballs super easy. It's a low-key flex too which is usually what I’m into unless I'm wearing pink shoes like in this photo shoot.

My name is Noah Leach and I am a photographer and graphic designer.
WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ADAPTURE SHIRT?
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OBJECT YOU CHOSE TO BRING?
The object I brought in is invaluable to me. It’s the tool that allowed me to express myself creatively, more so than any other camera or medium. The look and feel of the imagery that is created through that lens has become something personal to me, so that’s why I identify with it.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOU?
My name is Chelsey, I am a Personal Trainer and the Fitness Manager of my gym. My name is Kevin, I am part owner and Creative Director of my brand, SEVIN KASRAN.
WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ADAPTURE SHIRT?
We both picked standard shirts because of two main reasons. Chelsey while at work is always in active wear and when she comes home, she wants to be stylish and comfortable at the same time. For Kevin, he prefers his clothes to fit like a classic t-shirt, not too tight or oversized. With long hours working on the computer, he likes to be comfortable and still feel like he can go out and do business in the same outfit.
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OBJECT YOU CHOSE TO BRING?
We brought a dumbbell because we met in a gym! Health and fitness have been non-negotiable in our lives and we wouldn’t be together without it.
